A School Goes Solar
A School Goes Solar
St. Wilfrid's School is a prominent educational institution located in Burgess Hill. The school was looking for innovative ways to reduce their energy bills while demonstrating their dedication to green initiatives. In pursuit of these goals, St. Wilfrid's School contacted DW Energy to install a solar photovoltaic (PV) system on the school's premises.
Solar Panels
We deployed 41 Trina Vertex 425 kWh solar panels, renowned for their high efficiency and durability. These panels were carefully selected to maximise energy production and ensure long-term reliability.
PV System Size
The installation consisted of a 17.43 kWp (kilowatt peak) PV system designed to generate a significant portion of the school's electricity needs.
Inverter
DW Energy installed a Solax 3-phase hybrid inverter to provide flexibility for future expansion. This choice allowed the customer to easily integrate a battery storage system at a later stage, enhancing energy self-sufficiency and resilience.
Mounting System
We utilised the Van der Valk ballasted flat roof system to securely fasten the solar panels on the school's flat roof. This system is designed to withstand various weather conditions while ensuring the roof's structural integrity.
The solar panel installation at St. Wilfrid's School has delivered several noteworthy benefits. Firstly, it has led to substantial energy savings, significantly lowering the school's electricity expenses and enabling increased investments in education. Additionally, the project has had a positive environmental impact by actively reducing greenhouse gas emissions by generating clean, renewable energy. Furthermore, including the Solax hybrid inverter provides a pathway for future expansion, with the potential addition of a battery storage system to further bolster the school's energy resilience and commitment to sustainability. Lastly, the installation is a valuable educational tool, offering students a hands-on opportunity to grasp the significance of renewable energy and environmental conservation.
