Commercial solar across a four-unit property in Crawley

The owner of a four-unit commercial property in Crawley wanted to reduce electricity costs and support the site’s wider sustainability goals.

Each unit required its own solar array and inverter arrangement. DW Energy assessed the available roof space and existing electrical infrastructure before designing four coordinated systems with a combined capacity of 124.1 kWp.

Designing four solar systems as one coordinated project

Delivering solar across four separate units required careful planning. Panel layouts, inverter capacity and electrical integration needed to be considered individually for each part of the property.

DW Energy designed the installation to make effective use of the available roof space while ensuring that each system could integrate safely with the corresponding unit’s electrical infrastructure.

292 solar panels providing 124.1 kWp of capacity

The completed commercial solar installation comprised:

  • Unit One: 12 Trina Vertex 425 W panels, providing 5.1 kWp, with a 5 kW Growatt inverter
  • Unit Two: 44 Trina Vertex 425 W panels, providing 18.7 kWp, with a 20 kW three-phase Growatt inverter
  • Unit Three: 152 Trina Vertex 425 W panels, providing 64.6 kWp, with a 60 kW SolaX X3 inverter
  • Unit Four: 84 Trina Vertex 425 W panels, providing 35.7 kWp, with a 40 kW three-phase Growatt inverter

Across the four units, DW Energy installed 292 panels with a combined capacity of 124.1 kWp.

Installation, electrical integration and commissioning

The solar panels were installed across the four rooftops and connected to their respective inverter systems and existing electrical infrastructure.

Once installation was complete, DW Energy tested and commissioned each system to confirm its safety and correct operation.

This coordinated approach gave each commercial unit its own source of on-site electricity generation while delivering the wider property as one comprehensive project.

Reduced energy bills and reliance on grid electricity

Within the first few months, the property owners reported reduced energy bills and greater energy independence.

The systems allow more electricity to be generated and used at the property when solar energy is available, reducing the amount imported from the grid. The installation also supports the owner’s commitment to operating the property more sustainably.

Avoid describing the savings as “significant” until an actual percentage or financial figure is available.
