Large-scale solar delivery for a PPA-funded property portfolio

DW Energy was appointed to build and fully manage a large commercial solar project across three active buildings in Milton Keynes.

Working to an agreed system design, DW Energy managed the construction, site coordination, health and safety, electrical works, testing and commissioning. The completed installation totalled approximately 415 kWp, with more than 750 solar panels delivered within a six-week programme.

The project demonstrates how large commercial solar installations can be completed across occupied buildings where logistics, safe access and programme management are as important as the physical installation.

Client testimonial

“DW Energy did an excellent job delivering the Linford Wood project for us. This was a large commercial solar build across three occupied buildings, with more than 750 panels and a demanding six-week programme, so careful planning and dependable site management were essential.
The team took the agreed design and turned it into a completed installation while managing access, logistics, health and safety, testing and commissioning. It was a challenging project, but DW Energy kept things under control and delivered safely within the required timeframe.
Their approach gave us confidence throughout, and we would have no hesitation in using DW Energy again for complex commercial solar work.”

Installing more than 750 solar panels across a live commercial site

The project covered three separate buildings, each with its own access points, roof layout and working areas. All three buildings remained active throughout the installation.

DW Energy had to coordinate site users, deliveries, parking, material movement and safe roof access while maintaining the six-week programme.

Multiple roof sections, rooflights, existing plant and other features added further complexity. Panels and cable routes had to be installed around the existing building layout while maintaining safe access for the installation and future maintenance.

415 kWp system build, electrical works and commissioning

DW Energy provided full project delivery across the three buildings, including:

  • Approximately 415 kWp of commercial solar PV
  • More than 750 roof-mounted solar panels
  • Installation across three active commercial buildings
  • Cable containment and submain cabling
  • Inverter installation
  • Switchgear and distribution board works
  • Metering, testing and final commissioning
  • Site coordination and health and safety management

Managing these elements as one coordinated programme allowed the project to progress safely and efficiently across the live commercial site.

Three-building commercial solar project delivered within six weeks

DW Energy completed the installation within the required six-week programme.

More than 750 panels were installed, connected, tested and commissioned across three active buildings despite the complex roof layouts and demanding logistical requirements.

The result provides strong evidence of DW Energy’s ability to deliver large-scale commercial solar installations safely and within a tightly managed programme.
